    • Jean Delguel came to Quebec with the Carignan Regiment in 1665. He worked as quartermaster in the lower part of Quebec City in a building called the King's store.

Following demobilization, Jean and Pierre his younger brother chose to stay in Quebec. Jean had property at Charlebourg, became a policeman, and operated an inn near the King's store where he had worked. In 1685 he rented the east half of a building from Gabriel Gosselin. The building was recently restored. It has a ground floor and three upper floors. The inn was on the ground floor.
