    • A.W. BLANCHARD DIES AFTER SEVERE ILLNESS
The Payette I.O.O.F. lodge No. 22, had charge of the funeral Wednesday of Arthur William Blanchard at the Landon Funeral home at 2:30. Miss Sarah Humphrey gave a brief sermon. Pall bearers were E. H. Alden, Albert Harland, S. E. Leininger, Thomas Moggridge, John Taylor, and John Price. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, where the Odd Fellows lodge also had charge of the services.

Arthur William Blanchard was born in Antrim, New Hampshire, September 15, 1869 and died at his home in Payette, November 15, 1936 at the age of sixty-seven years, two months and ten days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Anna S., one daughter, Emily S. Castor and one granddaughter, Helen M. Castor of La Cresenta, California, his mother, Mrs. Neta Waldo, and a sister, Grace Rockwell of Worchester, Massachusetts. He was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge in Port Orchard, Washington, transferring to the Payette lodge No. 22. He was a member of the lodge for over forty years. Mr. Blanchard had lived in Payette for the past eighteen years.

Note: This was sent to me by a very nice and helpful lookup volunteer in Payette by the name of Patty. She really made an extra effort to help me find information on my great-grandfather, and found a copy of his obituary at the office of the cemetery where he is buried. She also took a picture of the gravestone for me.

The back of the picture simply says Arthur Blanchard and family. I would guess that the woman sitting is his mother, Nettie (Stacy) Blanchard Waldo, the woman standing is probably his sister, Gracie.

This would be about 1930 judging from how old Helen appears to be. Clyde would have been 36, Emily 38, Helen 5, Anna 59 and Arthur 61.

Although the date on this page is 1893, in the light it is apparent that the date was changed using a pencil. The Salem, Massachusetts, vital records lists the marriage date as 10 Apr 1896.

Grace M. Blanchard was Arthur's sister. W. L. Stacy was his uncle, Willie L. Stacy. I don't know who Olivia S. Anderson, Ernest T. Saul or Charles Shultz, Jr. were.

Status: Located. Arthur was born in Antrim, New Hampshire, son of William Blanchard and Angenette (Nettie) Stacy Blanchard. He is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Payette, Idaho.

Anna was born in Varmland, Sweden, daughter of Nils Johan Persson and Sofia Jansdotter. She is buried next to Arthur, but the date was never completed on her side of the stone.

This picture was taken by a very nice lady in Idaho named Patty. She was a lookup volunteer listed on the Payette County pages. She not only did a simple lookup to find where and when my great-grandfather was buried, she also got me a copy of his obituary and took this picture of his stone for me.
