    • Marie married the colorful Guillaume Couillard and had ten children. Her husband and two sons became nobles. She became very pious after her husband's death in 1666, and sold the fief du Sault-au-Matelot to the first Bishop of Canada, Francois de Laval. Her children and their descendants contested this in courts until the final resolution in the early 1900's. The church won. Her daughter Marguerite Couillard, a god child of Samuel de Champlain and wife of ancestor Jean Nicolet, received 300 livres from Champlain when he died.
