| 2 | | Picture and comments by Nancy Costello:
Because of this document that I (Nancy Costello) found several years ago, it proves about 99% that Thomas Nicholson in Nigel's book is the same gentleman that patented the 1,000 acres. BUT from the Quaker records, we know that Thomas Nicholson does NOT have a son or brother named William Nicholson. We know that a William Nicholson lived on Thomas land, so how is he connected? He maybe kin some how. Maybe a cousin?
But from all the records that I have found, it appears that Thomas Nicholson NEVER brought his family to the Colonies to live. |

Please note the under lined wording -
for John & Mary -
"could do if they were personally present." This makes me think they are in England and NOT Virginia. Why would they send a letter to Champe and give him Power of Attorney if they lived in Virginia?
2nd under line - "for the term of one whole year". The land appears to be rented for a least a year or maybe more. This was recorded on 16 Nov. 1772. Why is is recorded so late? There has to be some missing paper work. |

(b. 1471, Nürnberg, d. 1528, Nürnberg)
Emperor Charlemagne
c. 1512
Oil on lindenwood, 188 x 87,6 cm
Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg
The idealized portrait of Emperor Charlemagne was intended for the "Heiltumskammer" in the Schoppersche House by the marketplace, together with the portrait of Emperor Sigismund of Poland (also in Nuremberg). This was where the coronation insignia and relics were kept, which were put on display once a year at the so-called "Heiltumsweisungen." The physiognomy of Charlemagne, shown in the magnificent original coronation robes, is reminiscent of depictions of God the Father. The crown, sword and imperial orb were prepared by Dürer in sketches. The German imperial coat of arms and French coat of arms with the fleur-de-lis are emblazoned at the top.

The gold ring, depicted in the picture, is about an inch across, richly decorated with religious symbols, is inscribed 'Ethelwulf Rex' and was found at Laverstock, Wiltshire, in 1780; it was believed to have been a gift from Ethelwulf to a loyal follower. |
